Celebrating charity week

Fun, fundraising and more - our charity partnerships

· Charity of the year,Fundraising,Lifestyle

As we head towards the end of the year, and celebrate UK Charity Week (2 to 6 December 2024), it’s the perfect time to reflect on our work with Brainwave, and to look ahead as we call for nominations for our 2025 charity partnership.

Working with Brainwave and learning about the great work the charity does, providing specialist therapy programmes to help children with disabilities and additional needs reach their potential, has been hugely rewarding.

We’ve been privileged to meet some of the children and parents, get involved with fundraising committees and events, and to host our own event – wellbeing morning ZenAM, which will continue as we move forward, benefitting a different charity each year.

CEO of Brainwave, Keith Sinclair said: “Our heartfelt thanks go to Dee and the team at Spice PR for their unwavering support and dedication to our cause. Their support and fundraising efforts have made an impact on the lives of the children and families we help and Spice PR has gone above and
beyond in supporting us.

“Their enthusiasm, professionalism, and genuine care for what we do has been truly awesome, and the funds they have raised will help us provide vital support to more children and families. Thank you, Spice PR, for being an amazing partner and you will always be part of our Brainwave family.”

It was a real pleasure to mark the culmination of our project with Brainwave at the charity’s annual North West ball. The ball was themed ‘The Emerald City’ – very timely given the ‘Wicked’ movie release and sell-out musical UK tour!

Hosted by Lady Emma Fellowes at beautiful Georgian manor house hotel, Mottram Hall in Cheshire, the evening began with welcome drinks in the drawing room and selfies with Dorothy, the Tin Man and the Scarecrow, followed by a lavish dinner for almost 200 guests.

The entertainment included spectacular soloist Joanne Harper, on a break from touring with Rod Stewart, who sang hits including ‘Over the Rainbow’ to a spellbound crowd.

Brainwave's true value was brought home by a parent who said: “Brainwave changed our lives” and went on to bravely share a personal story of his family’s journey with the charity; after having twins and discovering one had additional needs due to autism.

The (sadly) familiar story of the lack of wider community support and the relief and reward that the family have experienced, thanks to Brainwave, reminded everyone in the room of how important it is to ensure the charity has sufficient funds for its much-needed services.

And the result was evident in the generosity seen. The raffle included amazing prizes such as a silver, emerald pendant from Clogau, a two-night stay at the Malta Marriott Resort and Spa, tickets to the press night of Wicked and much more, whilst the spectacular auction included holidays in Marbella, the South of France and the Lake District, as well as some truly unique gifts and experiences – including watching Rod Stewart in Las Vegas and meeting him backstage!

The total funds raised through the ball topped £28,000! An incredible result. Brainwave followed this success with their first ever carol concert at Manchester Cathedral – a fitting close to a year of fantastic fundraising.

On that note, we wish Brainwave and all the children and families they support a very happy festive season and a wonderful year ahead. And thank you to all who have supported in one way or another.

We’re excited to hear from charities interested in our programme for the coming year, so email team@spicepr.co.uk or share your nomination via our Instagram.
